F U Sandwich

This ocelot is waving goodbye to its brethren and other species Chertoff hates. I had named this entry something happy and quippy, but then this article came to my attention and I got angry. What a big middle finger to the nation from Homeland Security, sandwiched between disregarding the environment and abusing human rights. We got served. Holy hell, this administration sucks. For your political events fix, go to IndyBay and Global Exchange. Wednesday, April 9th:
  • Torch stuff. You should know what I'm talking about
  • SFBC volunteer night. I definitely don't go for the food, cause, or hot bikers 5-8pm
  • Collaborating for Change panel at The Commonwealth Club 5.30pm reception 6pm program. This is where I work (for free)
  • Chamber of Commerce wants you to work it at the job forum 6.30-8.30pm
  • Design Green Now discussion should be fascinating 6-8.30pm
  • Every Other Wednesday Club raises hell and funds at Liberties 22nd/Guerrero 7pm. You and your 10 friends just show up, and the bar gives moola for a kickass kid program
  • Free jazz and such at Amnesia 8pm. I remember lots of cute people at this bar
  • Phantom Planet plays at Bottom of the Hill. Jason Schwartzman used to be their drummer
Thursday, April 10th:
  • Food Not Bombs 5pm 16th St BART, then free movie Lonely Are The Brave at Station 40 (3030B 16th)
  • Opening reception for a neat recycled art show 5.30-7.30pm Sculpturesite Gallery
  • Adam Werbach speaks and gets a pat on the back and parties with INFORUM. Sold out, I like to think because of my mad interning skills
  • Girl + guitar Rebecca Cross gets good scores from others 8pm free at SoCha (great cafe at the Mission-Valencia merge)
  • Dolores Park free movie night 8pm: Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Friday, April 11th:
  • Project Open Hand midday shift
  • "When Hell Freezes Over" art opening looks cool 6pm Gallery 16
  • Shake Your Peace and Sonya Cotton play Hotel Utah 9pm $6
  • DJ thing called "The Magnificent 7" $5 at 12 Galaxies. Usually DJ dance things aren't posted on here, but usually they don't have names of theme songs I played in marching band
  • Pal's pal's band plays at House of Shields.
Saturday, April 12th:
  • Great Compost Campaign 10-1pm at Andronico's (Funston/Irving) Like trick or treating, but you give them info about waste diversion. Go to Arizmendi afterwards
  • SF Moma Jewelry Trunk Show 10-3pm. Buy some indie bling
  • Farm! Alemany stylee 12-5pm
  • Taste 2008 Exhibition 7pm. Try not to eat all the art
  • Thao Nguyen plays with XiuXiu at Bottom of the Hill. Wowsers, it will be packed
  • If I were cool and rich enough, I'd go to the Nick Lowe and Robyn Hitchcock show at the Fillmore 9pm $35
Sunday, April 13th:
  • Can't spell 'authors' without 'hot.' Main Library throws down with the Northern California Book Awards 1pm free
  • I think I should camp at Bottom of the Hill this week: The Blacks (awesome) play with Enon (is this band good?)
Monday, April 14th:
  • Free bluegrass every Monday at Amnesia 8.30pm
  • Noe Valley Tavern hosts a trivia night every Monday 8.30pm

Tuesday, April 15th:

  • I've heard Handsome Furs are good, but I forget who told me that. Good luck at Bottom of the Hill
  • Screening of Body of War at Embarcadero Cinema 7pm with panel afterwards. Probably not free, but amazing
